How is Eve sinful?
She dared to reach up into the heavens and deliver the gift of fire to man
She taught man to question
She taught man to understand the difference between right and wrong
Perhaps because evil didn’t exist before she bit into that apple?
After all, evil doesn’t exist if we don’t question the world around us
To call something evil means that it is condemned, that it is denounced, that it is reviled
How can something that no one questions be evil?
Genocide made sense once. It’s there, right alongside the story of Eve in the bible –
God does it
Joshua kills thousands
Even the marvelous Moses orders the deaths of women and children
It’s the ability to question that Eve gave us
It’s not the ability to know right and wrong – that’s just the beginning
The true gift is the ability to learn right and wrong
